Ello tumbler! Sorry I haven’t posted in ages but I just recently returned from Ireland and I’ve been so busy I haven’t had much time! But now I shall begin to tell you about my trip!
The first day march 9th, I arrived at the airport at 8 am to catch my flight to Atlanta! We met up with our group, there was about 25 of us. I buddied up with my friend nate since i am not a fan of planes! :(Then after suffering a four hour overlay, nate and i decided to pass the time by drinking at the airport TGIFriday’s. There we met up with Matt, our soon to be new friend! around 5pm we departed from Atlanta for the Dublin airport! We arrived around 4am in Dublin. After waiting on our luggage, exchanging our money, and trying to shake off the sleepless night most of us had, we packed ourselves in a 50 person coach bus and headed for galway….
We stopped at a monastery on our way to Galway it was beautiful. I fear I didn’t appreciate it enough because I was so exhausted:(, shortly we were back on our way to Galway.
Galway -Day One:
Although we still had not slept, except a little on the bus, Galway was the most beautiful place I had ever seen. We toured a part of the city referred to as “medieval street”. The buildings were beautiful and colourful and just amazingly built. There was people everywhere and music filled the streets. It is here that I ate my first scone, and learned of the curse of Cromwell. :x .. Also this is the first time I heard the word, “feck”.. It became widely popular among the group!
After our tour we went to Galway bay, I didn’t enjoy my scone so I fed it to the swans that were swimming quite close to us. The beach was non exsistant, instead it was a shore of sharp rocks and edges. Still non the less beautiful.
After our tour ended, Nate, Wesley, Matt and I all went to a fish and chips place. It was so crowded and being new to the island we were too intimidated to ask for seating. That is when the three nicest gentlemen invited us to sit with them. They made us feel extremely welcome. Just in general everyone was so polite. Then after dinner we went to the kings head” pub for a beer, but it was packed! Everyone was watching the rugby game! I had never seen one televised, so that was quite interesting!
We left shortly and met up with the rest of our group at the hotel bar ! We really got to know one another and set the precedent for how the rest of the trip was going to go!
After that I fell into a slumber, to be ready to wake at 7am for our trip to Killarney!
Day one was the beginning of the best week of my life…
